  • Progestin-Only Injectable Contraception (Injectables)

    This module was developed for use in training physicians, nurses, and midwives and other health care providers allowed to provide Progestin-Only Injectable Contraception ("injectables").

    Learning Objectives

  • Benefits of Family Planning

    This module is designed to be used by clinical trainers and pre-service educators with a thorough understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to provide clinical training on FP topics in pre-service or in-service settings.

  • Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs)

    This module on Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs) is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians—and assume trainees will have at minimum a nurse’s level of clinical training. Although the module can be used for Community Health Workers (CHWs), they would need basic literacy skills.

  • Condoms - Female

    This module on Female Condom is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians—and assume trainees will have at minimum a nurse’s level of clinical training. Although the module can be used for Community Health Workers (CHWs), they would need basic literacy skills.

  • Condoms - Male

    This module on Male Condoms is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians. It assume trainees will have, at minimum, a nurse’s level of clinical training. Although the module can be used for Community Health Workers (CHWs), they would need basic literacy skills.

  • Contraceptive Implants

    The Implants module is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians—and assumes trainees will have a minimum level of clinical training.

  • Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECP)

    This module on Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECP) is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians and in some cases pharmacists—and assumes trainees will have at minimum level of clinical training. The training materials are designed to be used by clinical trainers and pre-service educators with a thorough understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to provide clinical training on ECPs in pre-service or in-service settings.

  • Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECPs) Training for Pharmacists

    This module is designed to be used by clinical trainers and pre-service educators with a thorough understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to provide clinical training on FP topics in pre-service or in-service settings.

  • Family Planning Counseling

    This module was developed for use in training physicians, nurses, and midwives and other health care providers who will provide routine FP Counseling.

  • Intrauterine Devices (IUDs)

    This module for IUDs is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians—and assume trainees will have at minimum a nurse’s level of clinical training.

  • Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM)

    This module on the Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM) is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians—and assumes trainees will have at minimum level of clinical training. 

  • Progesterone Vaginal Ring (PVR)

    Like all of the modules in the TRP, the PVR module is a complete package of learning resources needed to address the learning objectives of the module, including a session plan, PowerPoint presentations, and accompanying activities and resources. The module is designed for generic groups of health workers. The PVR module materials should be tailored and adapted according to the education and training background and learning needs of the identified trainees.

  • Progestin-Only Pills (POPs)

    The module is designed for the providers in developing countries who most often are tasked with providing FP services—primarily nurses and nurse-midwives, as well as primary care physicians—and assume trainees will have at minimum a nurse’s level of clinical training. Although the module can be used for Community Health Workers (CHWs), they would need basic literacy skills.

    Learning Objectives

    By the end of the training, trainees should be able to:

  • Standard Days Method (SDM)

    This module is designed to be used by clinical trainers and pre-service educators with a thorough understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to provide clinical training on FP topics in pre-service or in-service settings.

  • Tubal Ligation (Female Sterilization)

    Like all of the modules in the TRP, the female sterilization module is a complete package of resources needed to address the learning objectives of the module, including a session plan, PowerPoint presentations, and accompanying activities and resources. The module is designed for training a surgical team comprising a surgeon, a surgical assistant, a circulating nurse, and a client monitor. In most instances, it is a doctor-nurse team that is invited to the training.

  • Vasectomy (Male Sterilization)

    Like all of the modules in the TRP, the vasectomy module is a complete package of resources needed to address the learning objectives of the module, including a session plan, PowerPoint presentations, and accompanying activities and resources. The module is designed for generic groups of health workers. The vasectomy module materials should be tailored and adapted according to the education and training background and learning needs of the identified participants.
